OGAE UK represented by Lewis Capaldi at OGAE Song Contest

The annual competition that is the OGAE Song Contest is getting underway later this month, and this year it is being “hosted” by OGAE UK following Steps’ victory in 2018 with Scared of the Dark.

To try and make it two years in a row for OGAE UK, our chances this year rest with 2019 superstar Lewis Capaldi, with Someone You Loved.

The OGAE Song Contest is one of three contests run by the OGAE International network – alongside the OGAE Second Chance Contest and the OGAE Video Contest – and allows OGAE members to vote on non-Eurovision songs from countries across the OGAE network.

This autumn 28 countries will compete to be the 2019 victor, with the songs being announced within the next two weeks.

After a close set of votes, Lewis Capaldi won the UK heat with 144 points, ahead of Marina’s To Be Human with 137 points and Mabel’s Don’t Call Me Up on 134 points.

OGAE UK has won the OGAE Song Contest five times since the contest’s inauguration in 1986, interestingly the same amount of times that the UK has won Eurovision!

Good luck to Lewis Capaldi in this year’s OGAE Song Contest!
