Changes to OGAE UK ticket polices

Following discussion at the 2018 OGAE UK AGM, and following feedback from members, the OGAE UK Committee has agreed an updated ticketing policy.

Demand from members is usually very high indeed and we only receive a limited allocation of ticket packages – and allocation of ticket packages is by no means guaranteed – so OGAE UK uses a ballot to determine which members are able to buy the tickets on offer.

To make sure that participation in the ticket ballot is more aligned to the membership year (which ends at the end of October), participation in the primary ballot will only be open to people who have joined the club by 31st October of two years prior to the contest they are applying for. 5% of tickets (up to a maximum of ten, whichever is the lower) will be kept aside for new members, for which a secondary ballot will be run.

As not everyone will have been at the 2018 AGM, and to ensure the change is as fair as possible, for one year only the cut-off point will be 1st March.

Under the proposed rules, the cut-off points for the primary ballot will therefore be as follows:

  • 1st March 2019 for tickets for Eurovision 2020
  • 31st October 2019 for tickets for Eurovision 2021
  • 31st October 2020 for tickets for Eurovision 2022.
  • 31st October 2021 for tickets for Eurovision 2023.

Please note as well that people applying for tickets through the OGAE ballot must be in possession of an OGAE International membership card. Details of how to load this through the Cardskipper app will be given to people as they join OGAE UK.

It is important to stress that access to ticket packages are a bonus and not a right, and that membership of our club is about a lot more than getting access to Eurovision tickets.
