OGAE UK is the United Kingdom’s club for fans of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is the largest constituent club of the international Eurovision Song Contest fan network, the Organisation des Amateurs de l’Eurovision, or OGAE for short. When you become a member of the UK club, you also join OGAE International.
OGAE UK’s primary objective is to promote interest in the past, present and future of the Eurovision Song Contest – the world’s largest and most popular music television event. We also aim to provide members with opportunities to learn more about the contest, to interact with each other at Eurovision-themed events, and to access a number of exclusive member benefits, such as merchandise and event discount offers.
We produce our magazine, Vision, four times each year, providing Eurovision stories, interviews, opinions and reviews. We also share periodic emails with news and details of Eurovision-themed events both at home and in Europe throughout the year and have a members-only Facebook group for updates and discussion.
Our events include our annual Eurobash convention, usually in October or November, our Annual General Meeting, and our Eurosocial get-together in the host city during Eurovision week. We aim to promote members’ events, concerts and parties and have been a main sponsor of the annual London Eurovision preview party.
As part of OGAE International, we take part in fan votes for our own song contests: the OGAE Song Contest, featuring non-Eurovision songs submitted by each fan club, and the OGAE Second Chance Contest, where the year’s best unsuccessful national final entries battle it out.
Attending the Eurovision Song Contest
We have been fortunate over the years to be allocated ticket packages for the Eurovision shows themselves to make available for purchase to our members. These include tickets for the rehearsals shows and the live TV broadcasts. Demand is always high so we run a ballot of interested members to ensure these are distributed as fairly as possible. Note that there is no guarantee in any given year that we will be allocated fan club tickets.
Members will be kept up to date by email when there is news about ticket packages and the ballot, as well as about the public ticket sale.
Eurobash
The Eurobash convention each autumn is the highlight of our year (after Eurovision itself!). Fans from across the country and beyond come together to celebrate our shared passion. The event typically includes a Eurovision quiz, a Stars in their Eyes style performance competition, and interviews and performances from Eurovision guests.
Eurobash moves around the country, with recent venues including Leeds, Bristol and Cardiff as well as Eurovision’s current spiritual home in the UK, Liverpool.
OGAE UK members have priority access to Eurobash tickets, which usually go on sale in the summer.
Committee
The club committee and magazine editorial team are made up of volunteers elected by the members who give their time freely to benefit the club. If you wish to get in touch, visit our contacts page.
