It’s “Embers” for James Newman

The BBC has confirmed that the song to be sung by James Newman at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will be…..Embers!

It’s described by James as “upbeat and positive” and has already had a great reaction from fans both in UK and across Europe.

Embers has been written by James Newman, Conor Blake, Danny Shah, Tom Hollings, Samuel Brennan, some of the UK’s most sought after writers and producers who between them have amassed over 4 billion streams.

James of course was initially selected to represent the UK at the cancelled contest in 2020, so we are delighted that he will finally get the chance to take to the stage in Rotterdam.

Jerry Reeve and Tom Denning will oversee the creative direction for the staging of the song at Eurovision in Rotterdam. They have created and choreographed for some of the world’s top music artists including John Legend, the Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift.

The music video for Embers comes from award winning filmmaker Charlie Lightening. Lightening directed the documentary Liam Gallagher: As It Was. He is best known for his work with Paul McCartney, Louis Tomlinson, Jamiroquai and Liam Gallagher.

OGAE UK would like to wish James and all the team at the BBC and BMG the very best of luck for Rotterdam. We’re in safe hands, and we already know it’s a song – and singer – we can be proud of!
