OGAE launches Eurovision Fan Contest

The world’s biggest Eurovision fan network, OGAE, is launching the Eurovision Fan Contest, a global vote to decide which of the songs selected for the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is the fan’s favourite.

Due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the 2020 contest, due to be held in Rotterdam in May, has been cancelled in news that was a cruel, but understandable, blow to the millions of Eurovision fans across the world.

However OGAE believes finding a “winner” among the 41 songs will still be a fitting tribute to the effort that has gone to selecting songs and artists over the past few months.

Each year, OGAE organises a poll among its own members, however this year it will be expanded so that anyone and everyone who follows the contest can vote.

The national OGAE clubs – including OGAE UK – will still select their favourite song as usual, however this year these votes will constitute the “national juries” and make up 50% of the overall vote. The remaining 50% will come from the general public who will be able to vote online for their favourite song.

In order to take part in the Eurovision Fan Contest you need to register here by 22:59 BST on 3 May 2020.

You can listen to all the 41 ESC 2020 songs and watch their videos by going to the official Eurovision playlist here and there will be appropriate links to the songs on the voting website. The songs will also be available for streaming and download, and on the official ESC 2020 CD that is due to be released on 24 April.

This is all just for fun and is in no way associated with the EBU or the official Eurovision Song Contest. All the acts selected for Eurovision 2020 are already heroes, but the overall winner will receive a trophy as the 2020 fans’ favourite, and an even more special place in our Eurovision hearts.
