Stockholm Blog, Day 14, Sunday 15th May

The final blog for Eurovision 2016 by Hass Yusuf, Vision magazine editor.

CONGRATULATIONS TO JAMALA!

Well done to Jamala and Ukraine on their remarkable win. Perhaps 1944 won’t be destined to be a classic dance number, but it’s good to see a serious song do well.

We really have to offer our thanks to Joe & Jake. We deserved a much better placing than third from last. (And yet again three of the Big Five are in the bottom five!)

Joe & Jake were tremendous ambassadors for the UK! And they sang their hearts out at every rehearsal.

I’ve been critical of Juries in the past, but they had more faith in the song than the public!

But whatever happens, OGAE UK would like to wish the boys good luck with their careers. This has been a great experience for them that can only be a benefit. And we would also like to thank the BBC for trying their best to improve our participation in Eurovision. Have faith – we will win the contest again!

Thank you Stockholm for a great contest, and thank you again Joe & Jake for doing your best!

A full report on Eurovision 2016 will appear in the next edition of Vision magazine out in July.

Thank you for joining us these past few weeks
