Italy win OGAE poll 2019

Many congratulations to Mahmood who, in one of the closest results in recent years, has won the 2019 OGAE International Poll.

With 411 points he just inched ahead of Switerland’s Luca Hänni (406 points) and the Netherlands’ Duncan Lawrence (401 points).

Interestingly neither of these Top 3 songs topped the OGAE UK votes, which awarded our 12 points to Norway (who came fourth overall), with 10 to Switzerland and 8 to Italy.

The OGAE poll has only predicted the winner once in the past five years, which was last year’s victory for Netta. Previous winners of the OGAE poll include Francesco Gabbani (2017), Amir (2016), Il Volo (2015) and Sanna Nielsen (2014).

In case you were wondering, the UK came 24th with 6 points – 12 countries failed to score any points at all.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the OGAE UK poll – we recorded the second highest number of voters out of all the clubs, only behind OGAE Spain. Let’s see if we can beat that next year!
